A typical day
What does a typical flight day look like?
A schedule of a typical flight day is shown in the table below

A day during summer camp:

08.30: waking up
09.00: breakfast in the club building
09.30: briefing in the club building
10.00: time to fly
13.00: having lunch
13.30: more flying
18.00: diner
19.00: making the last flights of the day
21.00: storing the gliders
22.00: final briefing in the club building

As you can see there is a lot of time to make flights each day. When you’re not in the air your hands are needed at the field. Gliders are taking off and the ones which have landed have to get back to the start. This means having a nice time outdoors (we hope with sunshine).
Eating and sleeping
Eating and lodging, how is that arranged?

Every morning and around noon we will have a joint meal either at the field or at the club building. In France you can expect a lot of fresh baguette with something on it together with a mug coffee, tea or something else. Everyday some of us will arrange the food in a local store and as you know, baguette in France is always crispy fresh.

We will also have a joint diner at the end of the day. We will always make sure the diner meets the ‘Vleugellam haute cuisine’ standards. It can be prepared by some of us at the field or club building. Some other days we will go to a cosy French restaurant nearby.

When everybody is satisfied with a successful day we can go to bed. But off course not before we have had a last drink, for example a good glass of French wine under the stars. Then it is time to hit your bed which will be in your own tent of that of somebody else.

Flying is not the only thing we do...

What if it rains?

Flying in the rain is no fun, so we plan to have lots of sunshine. But if it starts raining, of if you just want to do something else there are lots of options.

There are always others who want to hit the road to see something of the surroundings. No doubt some culture can be found near the field or in cities like Nancy, Strasbourg or Paris. There are also a lot of surroundings around the field, for example the Vogezen which is a beautiful mountainous natural park.

The words capital of love, Paris, is only 3 hours by train. You cannot go to France and skip this beautiful city. Other interesting places nearby are Nancy and Strasbourg, also reachable by train.
Transportation
How do I get in Sarrebourg?!

Vleugellam is of course a student association. No all of us own a car or can easily get one. Therefore we will make a transport planning that shows who can ride with who. If you are the person with the car, please let us know. In that case we will arrange some company for you during the trip and also make sure that the costs are fairly shared.

Saturday will be the transfer day. So we plan to let all the transport between Enschede and Sarrebourg take place at Saturday.
